Horn Sections Make Rock Better: Adios Mi Amor

This week’s rock song is more rock-adjacent. Banda music is what happened to brass bands when they made it to Mexico. (That’s the Mark Ramsay version, anyway. You can hear some German oom-pah in it.)

This one’s in honor of Marta, a Mexican lady I know who had to leave the country to take care of her dying father. She left her husband and daughter in the States. It is unclear if and when she’ll be able to come back.

She is a hard worker. That’s one reason I’m showing you two versions of this gem. The first is, I believe, the original recording of this ballad. The second is the same band, Dareyes de la Sierra, performing it live.

Enjoy the sweat. There is nothing like a hard-working band playing live.

Oh, what the heck, how about one more. This time it’s clearly an old cell phone recording, and it’s clearly sweatier. The fans are coming up on stage, one after another, for pictures. He doesn’t bat an eye. It reminds me of Porter Wagoner. Pro move!
