I have tried to stay away from topical, current-events content here. But I couldn’t let this one pass.

Many have posted about Simone Biles and her withdrawal from competition at the Tokyo Olympics. This particular post went viral on Facebook, and it’s worth a read.

The short version: We all need to be careful about valuing our entertainment, a gold medal or even national pride over someone’s wellbeing.

Just like the coaches and the Olympic system, managers need to be careful about what they are valuing over their employees’ wellbeing, too.

That value–a person’s worth–is what we have been talking about on our podcast, It doesn’t take a genius. Our three-part series on dignity starts at episode 66. Everyone can do a better job honoring the dignity of others. When we do, we all thrive.
